A Moment to Celebrate — Together, We Rise
Over the past few days, we’ve had the honor of witnessing remarkable commencement ceremonies across all nine of our colleges. We couldn’t help but feel such overwhelming pride and joy as we looked across the crowd of our soon-to-be graduates and at each and every proud family and community member standing in support of those students.
It centered us back to our mission and carried with it the hope of possibility. These are the days that shine so brightly, even when the hard days come. Each celebration told a unique story of perseverance, ambition, and achievement. We celebrated not only diplomas earned, but also obstacles overcome, dreams pursued, and futures reclaimed.
What stood out most was the undeniable strength of our community. Students of every age, background, and circumstance walked across those stages supported by families, mentors, faculty, and friends. It reminded us that our colleges are more than institutions. They are pillars of hope, belonging, and opportunity.
In these challenging times, LACCD remains united. We stand firmly and unapologetically with our immigrant students and their families, and we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to equity, inclusion, and access to education for all, regardless of immigration status, background, or circumstance.
Let us carry forward the energy of commencement, the spirit of possibility, unity, and purpose, as we continue this work together.
With gratitude and hope,
