Commencement Continues as Planned – District Monitoring Ongoing Events
Dear Colleagues,
In light of recent immigration enforcement activity and protests near some of our campuses, I want to reassure you that all college operations across the Los Angeles Community College District continue as normal, and commencement ceremonies will proceed as scheduled.
We are actively monitoring the situation in close coordination with our college leadership, campus safety teams, and community partners. Should anything change, we will communicate immediately and transparently.
As always, LACCD remains steadfast in our commitment to maintaining safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments—where every student, regardless of immigration status, has the opportunity to pursue their goals and celebrate their achievements.
I want to thank each of you for the care, compassion, and professionalism you continue to show our students during this time. Your work makes a difference.
We are especially excited to join in celebrating this important milestone with the Class of 2025. Their resilience and determination are a testament to the strength of our community—and the power of public higher education.
Thank you for standing with our students, and for all that you do.
With appreciation,
Dr. Alberto J. Román, DPA
Chancellor
Los Angeles Community College District
