Mindy Chen, Ph.D.
Dr. Chen holds an AB cum laude from Harvard University and an MS.Ed. from the
University of Pennsylvania. As part of her Ph.D. dissertation research at UCLA,
Mindy has studied how organizational dynamics of unions and community-based
organizations shape coalition strategies aimed at improving conditions for
immigrant workers. Concurrently, Mindy teaches at the Labor Center in Los
Angeles Trade-Tech College. Prior to returning to higher education, she worked
as a lead union organizer for over six years in Southern California and the San
Francisco Bay Area.
Jenny Galvez, M.A.
Jenny holds a
B.A. in History and Chicana/o Studies, with a Minor in Political Science from
UCLA. She earned her M.A. in Higher and Postsecondary from Teachers
College-Columbia University and is currently at UCLA earning her Doctorate
in Education (Ed.D). Her academic and professional work has focused on the
academic development and success of first-generation, undocumented, low income
and historically underrepresented students; with a focus on student activism and empowerment.
Jenny has worked in community colleges in New York City and Los Angeles
supporting students in their personal, professional, emotional and academic
success.
