SIS Modernization
Welcome to the SIS Modernization Project Page!
Here, you will find documents and materials related to the Student Information System (SIS) Modernization Project.
The SIS Modernization Project is scheduled to be deployed at all nine LACCD Colleges, and the Educational Service Center (District Office), by fall of 2017. Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions was chosen as the software solution to replace the existing DEC SIS (legacy “system”). Ciber, Inc. was the contractor selected to lead the installation and configuration process.
A more modern, robust, student information system will enable the Los Angeles Community College District to significantly improve student services and access, as well as access to data and real-time information. The new system will also simplify routine tasks, minimize the need for paper, and streamline and improve the Educational Service Center's ability to conduct state, federal and grant reporting.
The Educational Services Center administration and the Project executive sponsor, are dedicated to providing the resources needed for the success of this vital Project. Collaboration and involvement is necessary from all nine Colleges, as well as District personnel. The SIS is a cornerstone in LACCD's business structure and architecture. The SIS Modernization Project can, by all means, be considered the most important and valuable district wide Project currently being conducted.
We look forward to successfully deploying the new functionality available in the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, and welcome everyone’s participation in this exciting transformation.
Message from our Executive Sponsor: Dr. Ryan Cornner
We are in the midst of one of the largest business transformations the Los Angeles Community College District has ever experienced. As we prepare for the transition from DEC to PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, we enter a new era of competition and technological advancement. The SIS Project (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions), will empower our students with diverse tools to effectively manage their college careers, and at the same time position better the LACCD system in a highly competitive position vis-à-vis our neighboring community colleges.
Make no mistake about it. We must compete for students with other community colleges which already have advanced student information systems. LACCD District and College leadership has embraced this challenge. The level of work-effort, perseverance, and overall commitment to the SIS Project in the Los Angeles Community College District is next to none. We are preparing to impact current and future students in a fashion that will clearly demonstrate the District is whole-heartedly invested in their success.
As your project engagement continues—and even increases—please remember that the leadership team is solidly committed to your success. This commitment has manifested itself in staff involvement beginning with the Fit-Gap sessions, now in Configuration, and soon User Acceptance Testing. Starting Fall 2016, some of you will begin to receive training on your particular modules. I challenge you to embrace your training—work to make the very most of your time learning our new system.
We realize that success in the SIS Project means success for our students, and ultimately, success for the entire LACCD community.
We will all triumph when the Project is successful!
