Welcome to the Presidents Academy
LACCD Presidents Academy is a cohort-based transformational training program for senior-level administrators aspiring to become community college presidents.
The Academy is comprised of a 3-day Summer Intensive and (10) monthly 4-hour seminars facilitated by education leaders. While the curriculum is designed to teach the skills needed to be a president across the LACCD’s nine campuses, seminar topics address general presidential competencies. Seminar topics include promoting student success; managing internal change; effective communication; diversity, equity, and inclusion; collaboration; institutional finance, research and planning; fundraising; and resource management.
A Collaboration between LACCD and UCLA’s Educational Leadership Program designed the Academy. LACCD Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez set a goal to build the best urban community college district for students, faculty, and staff. To accomplish this goal, his approach includes a well-prepared and innovative faculty with responsive curriculum, state-of-the-art buildings and equipment, and excellent educational administrators and professional support staff - all to keep the colleges and their leaders ready for the future. And UCLA’s Educational Leadership Program (ELP) bridges the gap to deliver the vision. Co-directed by Dr. Linda Rose, ELP provides a doctorate in education (Ed.D.) in a cohort environment, to improve educational equity, access, and outcomes. In helping practitioners learn to deliberately connect research to practice, ELP prepares leaders to maximize and sustain improvements in their administrative or collegiate workplace.
