We Prepare Students

for Success in the Classroom and Entry Into the Workforce

Fact Sheet

Our Collaborative consists of six of the nine Los Angeles Community Colleges working together to provide expanded access to those in our communities who require English Literacy education and Citizenship services. We have created an integrated program of educational services that includes contextualized instruction to educate our students in the basic skills they need to become successful citizens, parents, and employees.

Our Services Include:

·      English as a Second Language (ESL) Instruction

·      Civics Education

·      Assessment and Placement Testing (CASAS)

·      Transitioning from non-credit to credit classes

·      Student registration and enrollment assistance

·      Instructional support for students

·      Counseling and Education Planning

·      Student referrals to on-campus resources and student support services

Our Goals Include:

  • Increase benchmarks by 150%, including enrollments in noncredit courses
  • Obtain additional grant funding to grow programs
  • Collaborate to attain shared benchmarks and district enrollment goals
  • Increase assessment and placement testing to ensure appropriate student referral to non-credit and credit instructional programs
  • Increase student transitions from noncredit, workforce education, to credit, career technical education programs

English Literacy and Citizenship Services are special-funded programs funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Section 231
