July 29, 2004
It was a festive day on July 29 as the new College Services Center opened with balloons, food and tours. More than 200 faculty, staff and students participated in the long-awaited event .
The Bookstore features wide aisles, and an expanded display of clothing, food and drinks.
Joining President Tom Oliver for the occasion was LACCD Vice Chancellor and former Pierce College President Rocky Young.
The tours went behind the scenes to show the Bookstore's dock and warehouse as well as the back offices of Financial Aid and the Business Office.
Food for the event was supplied by First Class Vending under the watchful eye of former Cafeteria Manager Marty Vargas , now a vice president of client relations with First Class.
The Copy Tech Center opens in August while the Cyber Cafe is slated to serve the campus in October.
The College Services Center is one of the first large buildings to be completed with Pierce College's nearly $300 million share of the $2.2 billion Proposition A and AA bond funds.
The Center also houses the business and colleges financial aid offices, streamlining the application and enrollment process for students.
