Community and education leaders celebrated today the renovation of Los Angeles Trade-Technical College’s F Building with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The building renovation is part of a larger $230 million campus overhaul, funded by Los Angeles voters through Propositions A and AA.

Trade-Tech President Daniel Castro was flanked by Community Colleges Board of Trustee member Nancy Pearlman at the afternoon ribbon-cutting. Students filled the second-floor hallway both before and after the 2 pm event for classes, which had been moved during renovation.

“This renovation is just the beginning for Trade-Tech students,” said Dr. Castro. “The bond funding from Propositions A and AA gives us the opportunity to provide improved educational facilities for our students. The modernization of the F Building, along with other important academic buildings on campus, will allow us to move forward with plans for our South Campus signature buildings.”

“Trade Tech’s F Building renovation shows that our community college campuses are versatile,” added Trustee Pearlman. “Soon, Trade Tech students will have state-of-the-art learning facilities in renovated 40-year old buildings as well as brand new buildings.”

David Rattray, Vice President, Education & Workforce Development for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, noted that “Trade Tech’s renovation is an asset to the entire community. Trade Tech excels at producing workers with the skills needed to power our 21st Century economy.”

With funding from bond measures Propositions A and AA, Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (Trade-Tech) is working on a $230 million renovation of the campus. In addition to modernizing the more than 40-year old campus, Trade-Tech will renovate their library, gymnasium, Construction Technology building, Auto/Metal building, Art and Culinary Arts building, and Math & Science building. The South end of Trade-Tech’s campus will be completely revitalized with two signature buildings, which will house classroom and administrative space.
