Los Angeles…The Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District named Judith Valles as the new president for Los Angeles Mission College.

Ms. Valles has over 40 years of experience in the field of education. She served as Interim President of Oxnard College in Oxnard, California; President of Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California; Interim President at Coastline Community College and President of the Board of Trustees for San Bernardino Community College District. Most recently, she served for eight years as Mayor of San Bernardino, California.

“We had a strong pool of candidates to choose from,” said LACCD Chancellor Marshall Drummond. “It was a difficult decision but we decided that Ms. Valles, with her diverse experience, is the best fit for the presidency of Los Angeles Mission College.”

Ms. Valles received her Honorary Doctorate in Education and M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California. Her Doctoral Studies on Community College Leadership were done at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Mission College is located in the San Fernando Valley and serves the neighboring communities of San Fernando, Pacoima, Mission Hills, North Hills, Panorama City and Granada Hills. The current interim president, Ernest Moreno, has served the college since the summer of 2006. Prior to that, Mr. Moreno was President of East Los Angeles College, where he plans to return.
