The Board of Trustees for the Los Angeles Community Colleges has announced two presidential appointments.  Beginning July 10, Dr. Mark Rocha will be the new president of West Los Angeles College (WLAC) and beginning August 1, Dr. Roland “Chip” Chapdelaine will be the new president of Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC).

Rocha replaces Dr. Doris Givens, who has served as interim president at WLAC for the past year.  Dr. Tom Harris has been the one-year interim president at LATTC.

Rocha currently holds the position of Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs at L.A. Mission College and teaches English composition at Irvine Valley College and Saddleback College in Orange County.  He is a former President of Santiago Canyon College.  He holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Southern California, a Master’s in English from California State University at Fullerton, and a Bachelor’s degree from Villanova University.             

Chapdelaine is the current president of Cuyahoga Community College’s Eastern Campus in Cleveland.  He has also held the position of President at both Rock Valley College in Illinois and Cumberland County College in New Jersey.  He holds an Ed.D. and Master’s degree in Biology from Ball State University; and a Bachelor’s degree from Providence College.

The Board of Trustees authorized the chancellor to conduct the presidential searches with his staff and Community College Search Services, based in Ventura, CA to assist in the process.  CCSS provides executive search services to many community college districts in the state.
