The California Student Public Interest Research Gorup (CALPIRG) New Voters Project is running a nonpartisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaign to turn students out to the polls. On October 31st, they held a news conference at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) to celebrate the 20,000 individual appeals that are to be made to California students before election day.
"Most politicians don't may much attention to young people and it's not surprise because oder people vote much mor ethan young pople," said LATTC student Ercely Hernandez.
"But by getting out and voting, we can make politicians pay attention to us."
