LOS ANGELES, CA (August 13, 2010)
-- Dr. Yasmin Delahoussaye, Vice President of Student Services
at Los Angeles Valley College, has been named Interim Vice
Chancellor for Educational Programs and Institutional Effectiveness
by the Board of Trustees for the Los Angeles Community
College District.
Dr. Delahoussaye, who will assume
the Interim Vice Chancellor post on August 30, has been
the chief student services officer at Valley College since
May 1996. She also has served as articulation officer in
the Office of Academic Affairs at Pierce College and director
of outreach and matriculation at Pierce College.
“I am excited about the opportunity
of working with our new Chancellor, Dr. Daniel LaVista,
and becoming a member of his executive leadership team.
I accepted this position because we both share the same
passion and vision of making our District a national model
for student success,” said Dr. Delahoussaye.
Dr. Delahoussaye, 58, earned a
bachelor’s degree in history from California State
University, Los Angeles. She has a master’s degree
in educational psychology, counseling and guidance from
California State University, Northridge, and a doctorate
in educational leadership from the University of California,
Los Angeles.
She has received numerous professional
honors, including the Board of Governor’s John W.
Rice diversity award, the Association of Community College
Administrators diversity award, and the UCLA School of
Education educational leadership award.
She is currently a member of the
California State University, Northridge School of Education
Advisory Board. She was appointed to the Human Relations
Commission by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in 2006 and received
an appointment to the California Student Aid Commission
by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007.
Dr. Delahoussaye will serve as
Interim Vice Chancellor for the 2010-2011 academic year.
She is eligible to apply for the permanent position or
any other related position that may evolve.
The interim vice chancellor post
that Dr. Delahoussaye will assume combines two previous
vice chancellor roles. John Clerx had been Vice Chancellor
for Educational Support Services for three years before
retiring in June after having served the LACCD for 30 years.
Gary Colombo had served as Vice Chancellor for Institutional
Effectiveness since October 2006. Colombo is now an instructor
in the English Department at Los Angeles City College.
