In Fall 2008, the District Planning Committee piloted an innovative "Self Inventory" of the progress that the nine colleges have been making on the 5 goals and 33 objectives articulated in the Strategic Plan. As of October 2008, 18 months into the 5 year planning cycle, nearly 50% of the activities associated with the plan have been "Achieved." Results of the pilot "Self Inventory" effort can be found here: Self Inventory Update.
Student Success Initiative
The LACCD Student Success Initiative works to improve student learning and student educational outcomes across the District. This fall, the SSI launched a new website that provides an interactive forum for all issues related to Student Success. At the LACCD "Success Network," faculty who support the Student Success effort can network across the district and access information that will help them enhance their classes and improve the performance of their students. For more information about the LACCD Student Success Initiative, including the entire Framework for Student Success, click here: Student Success Initiative. Click here to join the "Success Network".
This coming January, the SSI is also kicking off its first "LACCD Faculty Teaching & Learning Academy." A joint effort of the District administration and the District Academic Senate, the FTLA will offer an intense hands-on workshop experience to 70-80 faculty members a year, designed to facilitate innovative classroom approaches that support student engagement, self-reflection, and academic success. LACCD Accreditation Update
In Summer 2007, the accreditations of Pierce College, Los Angeles Valley College, and Los Angeles Mission College were all reaffirmed. The three "City-side" colleges -- Los Angeles City College, East Los Angeles College, and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College -- are currently completing preparations for their accreditation site visits in May 2009.
