Agency Shop Requirement

The classified employees of the District, with the exception of individuals in management and confidential positions, are represented by unions.  As provided by State law, the role of unions is to represent their members in negotiations with the District on matters related to hours, wages and terms and conditions of employment.  Represented employees are required to become members of the union that represents their job classification.  In limited situations, members are able to pay a representation fee rather than union dues. Specific information is available through each union.
