Adjunct Faculty Health Benefits - Premium Only Plan (POP)

In reviewing your assignment for the Fall 2013 semester, we have determined that beginning September 1, 2013, you are eligible to participate in the LACCD Health Benefits Program for adjunct faculty. This offer of enrollment is for adjunct faculty members who are currently not participation in the LACCD Health Benefits Program and did not participate in the program in the Spring 2013 semester.

In order to qualify for the program, an adjunct faculty member must reach a minimum of .20 FTE in his/her discipline for 3 out of the previous eight semesters and must have .33 (or higher) FTE during the semester that he/she is eligible for enrollment. One of the benefits of the LACCD Health Benefits Program is that the monthly premium payments will be deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis and the LACCD will contribute $242.00 each month toward the cost of the medical plan which you select.

Your Fall 2013 assignment will allow for coverage from September 1, 2013, through January 31, 2014. Upon making the decision to participate in the LACCD's medical, dental, and/or vision plan, please remember that due to the nature of the pre-tax plan, you are making a commitment to participate in the plan at least through December 2013. However, if you decided to continue participation in the program, please keep in mind that beginning January 1, 2014, the premium rates will change. In addition, beginning January 1, 2014, the LACCD's monthly contribution will increase to $254.00. Please refer to the Fall 2013 LACCD Adjunct Rate Exhibit as an example of what you can expect to pay monthly for medical coverage.

if you continue to be eligible in the Spring 2014, your coverage period for the Spring 2014 will run from February 1, 2014 through July 31, 2014. Please keep in mind that if you continue to be eligible for coverage in the Spring 2014, the LACCD will automatically continue your coverage. However, if you decide that you do not want coverage in the Spring 2014 semester, you must remember to make this change during the LACCD Open Enrollment period (September 16 - October 11, 2013).

Further, if in the Fall 2013 assignment you have an FTE of .50 or above, you are also eligible for the LACCD to pay 100% of the premium for vision coverage for yourself; you must pay for your dependents. Please note, it is not possible for you to drop your vision coverage once you enroll if you remain eligible even if you no longer are entitled to free coverage (this will only happen if your fTE drops from 0.50 or above to 0.33 to 0.49).

If you are interested in participating in the LACCD Health Benefits Program please complete and submit a copy of the 2013 Enrollment/Change form with supporting documents no later than August 30, 2013. Page three of the application informs you of where to submit it for processing. Your coverage will become effective on September 1, 2013.
