How to Apply - 2024-2025 Financial Aid Application

The FAFSA Simplification Act was recently passed by Congress to streamline the financial aid process for students and families. Among other key changes, this legislation will reduce the total number of questions students see when filing the FAFSA. We have highlighted some notable differences from prior years.

  • The 2024-25 FAFSA is now available online at studentaid.gov  (or dream.csac.ca.gov for the California Dream Act Application).
  • Students must invite "contributors" (e.g., parents or spouse) to complete their section of the FAFSA. All contributors must give IRS consent (including non-filers) to pull tax return information or FAFSA becomes invalid.
  • The Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) has been replaced by the Student Aid Index (SAI).  The SAI is a different way to determine financial aid eligibility.

You can see further changes and follow future updates at our FAFSA Simplification Act page.
